A Group Scout Leader (GSL) is responsible for “the continuity and development of training in Sections of the Group”, “the development of Scouting in the Group's catchment area” and “for supporting all the adults who work within the Group”

As a Scout Leader you will plan and delivers a safe and exciting programme for young people, making sure every young person gets the chance to spend at least one night away each year. You will use your energy and creativity to help young people have fun, develop their potential and earn a wide range of badges and awards. You will have a team of assistants and parents to help you deliver the programme, but your enthusiasm and sense of fun and adventure will inspire them. There is also the chance to go camping, climbing, canoeing, lead community projects and help prepare young people with skills for life.

We need a fun, committed person(s) to support young people, help run games and activities during weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards. Enthusiasm and empathy with young people and a sense of humour is required, but we can teach you the rest, and support you all the way to ensure you get the training and support you need. There is also the chance to go camping, climbing, canoeing, lead community projects and help prepare young people with skills for life.

The Facilities Co-ordinator is responsible for the HQ Building, its maintenance, hiring and cleaning. His sub-team of supporters may have multiple roles within the team, with the view that many hands make light work and it should not fall on one particular individual’s shoulders all of the time. The overall aim is to improve and maintain the condition of the premises the Scout Group uses and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and any other regulation appertaining to the use of the premises.

A dedicated group of people who can be called on to undertake maintenance tasks (currently twice a year), but determined by ongoing requirements.

This is a team of individuals who keep the HQ spick and span for the Sections to use and after external hall hire. Timing of cleaning can be to suit your own convenience subject to avoiding the regular section meetings, hall events and the occasional private hire of the premises.

The Quartermaster is responsible for looking after the stores and equipment that we keep in Scout HQ and use for outdoor activities. Specific responsibilities include: Keeping the stores tidy and safe, Making sure kit is available for camps, Assisting in the picking and preparation of kit before a camp, Checking all kit is clean and in good working order when returned from a camp, Arranging for the repair or replacement of any kit as required, Ordering new kit as and when required, Hiring out of equipment to external sources

This role ensures that we work within safety guidelines at HQ, events and camps with a knowledge of H&S legislation. The officer must keep up to date with compliance, producing risk assessments where required, and work with the Facilities Coordinator and Section Leaders.

The Fundraising Co-Ordinator provides the focus on any fund raising and ad-hoc events, identifying - what needs to be done - why you want to do it -what you need the money for - what the benefits will be, together with the logistical planning and framework of how an event will take place. They work with the fundraising Sub-Committee to achieve this and liaise with the Executive Committee for requirements and progress.This position can be split in two for several people to do.

These people are part of the team supporting the Fundraising Co-Ordinator. Ideally the team will split into smaller groups for individual events meaning not everyone needs to get involved with every fundraising project.

>We require an independent auditor to overhaul the accounts and paperwork at the end of each year so that we can comply with the Charity Commission regulations. Our year runs from January 1st to December 31st and submission of accounts to the Commission needs to be done by November. The AGM is in mid May, and ideally the audit should take place beforehand
